Ireland’s National Research Ethics Committee for COVID-19-related health research (NREC COVID-19) is pleased to endorse the Manifesto for EU COVID-19 Research. The Manifesto emphasises the imperative to make scientific results publicly accessible without delay and encourages, where possible and for a limited time, non-exclusive royalty free licences on the intellectual property resulting from EU-funded research.
European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel says, ‘The manifesto prepares the ground for products and solutions resulting from EU Research Grants, to be scaled up, available and affordable for all’.
The NREC COVID-19 was established as a temporary measure by the Minister for Health as a component of Ireland’s coordinated response to the pandemic. The principles underpinning the Manifesto are in line with the commitment of the NREC COVID-19 to accelerate research and foster transparency in health research endeavours.
